Non Immigrant Visa

The Consulate Sections of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia in Abu Dhabi is responsible for providing visa services to those seeking to enter Somalia for a temporary or short period. Individuals from certain countries are able to travel to Somalia without a visa, instead they will receive visa upon on arrival.

Somali Visa Requirements:

1. Completed visa application form In Arabic or English
2. Copy and original passport valid for at least 6 months
3. Copy of residence permit & Emirates ID valid for at least 6 months
4. 2 recent colored, passport size, photographs of the applicant with white background
5. No-objection to travel letter from the employer or sponsor
6. Invitation latter from Somalia explaining purpose of travel
7. Proof of accommodation in Somalia
8. Copy of confirmed two-way airline ticket

Please note the following:

1. All documentation has to be submitted in Arabic or English language
2. The Embassy reserves the right to ask for additional documents
3. The applicant may be requested to appear in the Embassy for an interview
4. Children’s accompanying parents must submit a separate application form
5. Depending on the applicant’s nationality, visa processing time at the Embassy may vary from 1 to 7 working days
6. Submitting an application without the complete set of documentation according to the above checklist may result in the rejection of the visa application

Travel purpose permitted for a visitor visa:

The following are examples of activities permitted while in Somalia. In addition, a transiting or traveling through Somalia to other neighboring countries is generally permitted for travelers and they will receive visa upon on arrival


  • Consulting with business associates
  • Attending a scientific, educational, professional, or business convention or conference
  • Attending short-term training
  • Negotiating a contract
  • Tourism
  • Vacation (holiday)
  • Visiting friends or relatives
  • medical treatment
  • Participating in social events hosted by fraternal, social, or service organizations
  • Participating by amateurs in musical, sports, or similar events or contests, if not being paid for participating
  • Enrolling in a short recreational course of study, not for credit toward a degree (for example, a two-day cooking class while on vacation)
Travel Purposes Not Permitted except with visa:

The following are examples of activities that require visa to travel to Somalia:

  • Studying for credit courses
  • Employment
  • Working as foreign press, radio, film, journalists, or other information media
  • Permanent residence in Somalia
